BCK Do you know what the word evolved means as in "it is only within the past three or four decades that some carnival costumes have evolved into something resembling the raunchy Brazilian Carnival costumes." ?

Yuh not readin de post boy!!! Focus on the issue.

From reading the posts I gather that passa passa is a much bigger problem than I thought.
It has no place in Grenada, or anywhere else in the world for that matter.
The saying comes to mind "evil will prevail when good men do nothing". So I hope and pray that those entrusted with keeping and upholding the law, and morality, do their jobs.

y does it (carnival) have to held in easter is the other big question .....y not some other time of year ?

There is a historical reason to it, but i'll explain it to you later. The very name "Carnival" has a lot to do with it. Perhaps you can google it and find something...

You can never stop PASSA PASSA in Jamaica until you stop Carnival first.

You can never stop Carnival in Jamaica as long as the rich desire it.

To stop passa pass is to incite more social unrest between the haves and the have nots.

Kinda what I was thinking when I initially post in this thread. Hence the reason I say if we are gonna hit out at Passa Passa, we better do the same with Carnival.

Don't forget Spring Break either which from what I have heard can be extremely racy, granted most of it is perpetrated by young college students from North America.

Same can be said for carnival. It's all debauchery.

For Jamaica ... we would have to do away with both and return to the original junkanoo concepts.

I am not a Trini so my cultural perspective is just as skewed as BCK and AK.

However I can see and agree with Juliet once I put myself in "her shoes" so to speak.

From a Conservative viewpoint ... bachanal is well ... morally and spiritually conflicting.
