ST GEORGE'S, Grenada: Work is full speed ahead and Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, after touring the Queens Park Stadium facility last week, is even more confident that Grenada will be ready for Cricket World Cup 2007.

The Chinese echoed the sentiments that Grenadians can rest assured that they will make things happen to have the facility completed in time.

Mitchell said what is emerging at the Stadium is superior to most of the other participating venues and the construction is progressing well.

“I am not surprised to see the extent of the work that is ongoing here and the fact that it appears that we are very much on target in terms of meeting our deadlines for the hosting of this very important event,” he said.

The Prime Minister also used the opportunity to compliment the Chinese workers and the leadership and the pace at which they have been proceeding with to meet the deadline.

From the end of this month the Chinese have indicated that they will intensify their speed and said the piling phase will be finished before the end of the March.

When the ICC returns in May for another inspection, Grenada should by then be on schedule. Prime Minister Mitchell said this inspection is important for it will determine whether or not a question mark will be placed on the country’s Super Eight package.
