Dominica is one of world's happiest countries

LONDON, England (AFP): The Caribbean island of Dominica is one of the top five happiest countries on Earth, according to a study published this week measuring people's wellbeing and their impact on the environment.

The tiny South Pacific Ocean archipelago of Vanuatu is the happiest country and Colombia, Costa Rica, and Panama complete the top five in the Happy Planet Index, compiled by the British think-tank New Economics Foundation (NEF).

The index combines life satisfaction, life expectancy and environmental footprint -- the amount of land required to sustain the population and absorb its energy consumption.

Zimbabwe came bottom of the 178 countries ranked, below second-worst performer Swaziland, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ukraine.

Dominica is one of the most beautiful islands in all of the Caribbean islands put together. It offers a wide range of natural features and visitors get lost in its beauty. It is paradise for people who enjoy nature as much as I do. One visit to this island and you never want to leave. We boast of an abundance of waterfalls, rivers, lakes, forest,a few secluded white sand beaches and of course beautiful women.

Dominicans know how to have fun and we enjoy the simpliest things in life. It is an ideal vacation spot. Come for a week and have the time of your life. We work hard and at the end of the day, we know how to let loose and 'party'.

We offer a variety of 'hang out' spots that one can indulge in. You will leave this island happy. We are noted for truly being the forth in the line of happy places. Come and experiece it for yourself. It is truly a wonder.

    I am a proud Dominican

Thanks for clearing the air AngelsKiss. There is only one Dominica and it is situated in the Lesser Antilles, between two french islands: Guadeloupe and Martinique.

Our main language is English with a little creole spoken by many of the locals. We are nowhere close to 'Dominican Republic'.

Visit my island and experience the pleasure that comes with it.

Where does Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean islands rank?
