Freak tornado-like storm hits Barbados
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, January 10, 2007 - Barbadians woke up this morning to the shocking news that a "tornado" touched down in Wildey, on the outskirts of Bridgetown, giving a woman the scare of her life and damaging at least one commercial building.
Eyewitnesses said that heavy rain-laden clouds bellied and a twister came out of nowhere, touching down a stone's throw away from the headquarters of Barbados Telecommunications Service. A woman on the road after 7:30 am said that she was caught up in it but was not injured. However the rude twister whipped her personal belongings out of her hand and sent them skyward.

Oh dear.....lol..... where is my Geo teacher now? In second form they told us that we can never have Tornadoes in the Tropics because we don't ahve the temperature diversity to cause....lmao!

Really some years ago a twister was observed just outside a coast line in Greanada...so I won't doubt twisters in the tropics.Originally Posted by Manu

There was a water spout off the coast of Jamaica the other day...actually I think it was year before last.

not likely but damn last december was hot as hell ....not only that warmest winter in some parts of US and canda....probably global warming has a lot to do with that
