Hail
Ramesh
We had our share of "Island Exploitation" by the foriegn media and most of realised that we would never be depicted as how we are, unless we are in control we will be governed by someone else's agenda; which is to show just beach, sand, dim wiited weed smokers and willing native girls.
Interestingly Jamaica has a relatively rich film history, if we think about films like:
Harder They Come
Rockers
Smile Orange
Children of Babylon
Country Man
I would have mentioned DanceHall Queen but its relatively recent, it had the same mass appeal like Rockers because it had the current local stars of the day.
In Rockers you had stars like Jacob Miller and Mikey Dread plus others, its still viewed as a cult classic across the world and given credit for show casing reggae to the world.
