Default Barbados family trapped as home collapses into cave

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, August 27, 2007 - A section of an apartment block has collapsed into a cave after the roof of the subterranean cavern, on which it was constructed, crumbled early Sunday morning.

A family of five is believed to have been inside the apartment. Their fate is unknown. One man was injured and was found by neighbours on the surface.

The search started five hours after the alarm was raised, according to local press reports. Barbadian rescuers used cranes to lift the roof and a car from the hole. Local rescuers, digging through the rubble, were suspended from cranes fearing continuing cave-ins.

No sign of life found in building collapse

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, August 27, 2007 - Hope fades for a St Michael family of five who remain buried for over 24 hours after they plunged with their apartment, as they slept, into a subterranean cavern when the roof of the cave, on which their home was constructed, collapsed early Sunday morning.

The Barbados Meteorological Office said that a tropical wave approaching the island would bring some scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms during the day Monday, as rescue work continued.

Which smart person built an apartment complex on a Cavern now? Sorry for the families affected though.

    I beg to differ...

A joke is really making funny, the funny issues of reality.

I not at all poking fun on the people being victimised, i'm not that heartlless, yet.

But, i'm thoroughyl annoyed at the people in authority that authorise and approve such dwellings. I only did geography up to sixth form, and i know is not every surface you can put a house on. Even if you never took the time to study in school, there is a song about the foolishman that built his house upon the sand and it what happened to it afterwards.

So either those people dunce beyond belief, or greedy beyond belief to put people's life at such risk. And I would hate to think that it was because of greed...

So for all those people out there that need a little educating.. sing with me now:

The wise man built his house upon the rock.
The wise man built his house upon the rock.
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
But the house on the rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand.
The foolish man built his house upon the sand.
The foolish man built his house upon the sand.
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up.
And the house on the sand fell down. CRASH!

I heard one decomposing body was recovered yesterday. Not much details were released to the public as to the identity of the body.
