I heard that last night from someone.

Sounds like preemptive reporting to me. Just like when a certain website declared a winner in the Jamaican elections and then had to reduce their figures to match official figures.

Well, the Jamaica Observer today is reporting that the St Lucia Star reported yesterday that he is dead.
So I went to the St, Lucia Star website and found the latest info: Nation braces for the worst!
Seems he is still in hospital but it is not looking good for him.
According to the article, it seems the family isn't providing much information to the government and thus to the media, concerning his health, causing all this bungling.

He's dead now as reported on RJR radio moments ago.
Oh btw I seem to remember prophet Phinn predicted the death of a regional head of state this year.

If you read the article on what I just posted, you would see, that many media houses around the world, reported him dead days ago. But yet, he wasn't.
Since many of the overseas media is taking their news from the St. Lucian Star website, I'm leaning towards them for the latest info more than the media here or anywhere else. And according to them, he is still hospitalized.
Ok, Compton has passed away officially now:
CASTRIES, St Lucia: All the speculation and secrecy about whether the prime minister of St Lucia, Sir John Compton, is alive or dead has finally come to an end. It is now official -- in an address to the nation Friday night, Stephenson King, acting prime minister informed the nation of Sir John's passing away.
Sir John died at about 6.50 pm on Friday at the Tapion Hospital where he has been since his return to the island from the La Menard Hospital in Martinique on Wednesday.
