That is true Sophis. And they're giving up shots. Jamaica of old...everybody would want to score and kick shots from the half line..

Jamaica has now made it to the group stage...

We're in the same Group as Mexico, Honduras and Canada.

Honduras, El Salvador and Canada are our biggest competition for the 3rd/4th spot. If we make it to the last round, we WILL be going to the World Cup. Canada will be a decent test. They played pretty well against Brazil and if it weren't for a defensive mistake, they would've probably won or drawn. Honduras is always a dark horse. They can raise their game to beat us or even deny us victories which they have in the past so this is Reggae Boyz first real test. They played some good ball today so lets see if they can maintain it.

    Congrats to Jamaica thus far.

Grenada going to Costa Rica this weekend to play their team. Last Saturday both teams drew 2-2.

The top four [from Conmebol] teams qualify directly for South Africa in 2010 and the fifth plays off against the fourth team from the CONCACAF region.

    Taken from here

Guess who is in 5th place now?
Just look sticky for us. Is US and Mexico fault....can't pass round of 16

all we have to do is make sure we qualify in third. As I said before we have the quality to do it.

When does the second round start?

You do realise that we don't play Bahamas in the next round, right?

Frankly that was like taking candy from a baby.... Throughout the whole 90 minutes in the second game Bahamas only made 1 strike to the goal!!! and couldn't keep control of the ball for even a good 5 mins. I'd like to see the Boyz do that with some real challenge.. Like even the USA,

You know, we'd probably play better ball if our pitch wasn't such crap?? And this generation of Reggae Boyz is actually playing better football than those of 98. They're more organized and the football is more attractive. I saw some really neat runs and passes and cheaky flicks... and even composure infront of goal. We just need to build on that become more consistent. Over the next few months, before the start of the club season, we should be able to tweak side a bit.

I agree with you that our pitch is not up to par, and it puts us to a great disadvantage when we travel abroad to play. With that said, I am not convinced that our new player are better players than our 98 team. I can remember our 98 team playing some really tough matches and coming out with surprising results. I don't see our new team doing the same against the likes of USA, Canada, Brazil, etc.

I am ready and willing to be proven wrong tho...

Remember we grounded out the results in 98 and Mexico could've denied us the World Cup spot but they rather denied the other central Americans. We only needed a draw and they didn't beat us. Why did Mexico do that? Because the other countries always tried to conspire against them. If a team had to lose by 6 for Mexico to not go through, they would throw the match and let their opponents score 6 on them.

Trust me when I say we have more talent now and playing better football. Marlon King is much better than Walter Boyd.
